Gemstones and Their Claimed Remedial Powers

New Age Stuff

Most people see gems purely as decoration, such as gemstone beads; that is, jewellery to wear only for aesthetic purposes. But stones are also considered to have several curing properties, such as (depending on the gemstone) the power to boost self-confidence, concentration, relieve headaches and stress, promote a calm mind, and encourage positivity.

We will cast an eye on a handful of stones and their supposed restorative properties. A disavowal before we go any further : The details of this article are grounded on common beliefs, and there is no guarantee as to the efficacy of these gems and their claimed remedial powers.

Amazonite
This stone improves self-confidence ,while giving a sense of hope to the wearer.

Haematite
A mighty gem which bestows aids willpower and strength. Effective in harmonizing the body and spirit. A grounding gemstone which represses anxiety and is claimed to prevent insomnia.

Malachite
A strong gemstone which can soak up negative energies and pollution. Effective for those under emotional stress.

Sodalite
Increases the power to communicate and comprehend others feelings. Useful for the growth of spirituality and intuition.

The above-mentioned stones are only a small pick of gems that are believed to have remedial powers. The only concrete way to realise if these gems can work for you is to wear them if you suffer from an ailment that a stone is believed to help relieve.

The Bee Stings of Life

New Age Stuff

“…Man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires” (James 1:20); “Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret–it leads only to evil” (Psalm 37:8).

We expect to conquer the mountains in life and we are brought down by bee stings. And we get very angry about it, too. After all, if God keeps putting minor things like contrary people and events in our way, how can we prove ourselves in the major events? The key phrase here is “does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.”

In an excellent article on anger, Hendrie Weisinger points out that we have an anger problem if:

1) we get angry six or seven times a day;
2) we stay angry for long periods of time;
3) we become aggressive when we are angry;
4) if anger is disturbing our personal relationships.

She also suggests that we make a checklist for anger control:

1) five things that make us angry, from angriest to least angriest, and then mentally rehearse how we will handle it the next time;

2) write down our own counterpunch remark for each distorted perspective we harbor;

3) practice a relaxation technique to develop a conditioned calm response when needed;

4) practice temporarily removing ourselves from anger-provoking situations;

5) practice “I feel” emotional statements; start a “feeling journal”;

6) use visual aids. Actually see our reactions, and when we start to lose control, regain our composure and regroup;

7) Make a list of the six most important people in our life and then ask ourselves, “How do I direct my anger with this person?” This will help us to develop a strategy for directing our anger; and

8) think of something funny that we can do during these situations so they can become at least a little bit amusing. (From The Orlando Sentinel).

What’s The Meaning Of Your Life? Here’s Something To Think About

New Age Stuff

Imagine this scene: Project yourself into the future. You are 87 years old and sitting on the couch in the living room of your house. Sitting around you are your grand children and their children too. The smaller ones and maybe even some of the older ones ask you to tell them a story. They enjoy your stories. And of course you are more than happy to oblige them. Then after all, this is your family! Your offspring! You’ve told them many stories over the years. This time, however, they want you to tell them a different story. The story they want to hear this time, and everyone seems particularly primed to hear, is the story of your life. They are all waiting eagerly for you to begin.

NOW. Take a moment and think about this scene…

What will you say? Or a MUCH better question is: What would you LIKE to be able to say? Now when you are thinking about this, think about what you would REALLY LIKE TO BE ABLE TO SAY. Not what you think it would be possible for you to be able to say. Am I making myself clear? For example, instead of something like: you worked at a job that you didn’t like for 40 years, saved some money, weren’t able to take many extravagant vacations like you would like to have taken, bought a house and just basically lived a modest life as a responsible citizen, maybe you’d like to say something else. Maybe you’d like to say that at your current age; 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, or whatever it is, that you changed your life. In other words, WHAT WOULD YOU REALLY LIKE TO BE ABLE TO SAY when that time rolls around for you to tell that story?

Do you have some ideas? Isn’t that a nice thought?

Now here’s another question for you. How do you think you will feel when you are in your 80’s KNOWING that you continued to live the life you are currently living, knowing that there was something deep inside of you that you really would rather have done and never did it? Something that could have made you so happy and you didn’t have the nerve to try it? Something that you would loved to have done, but didn’t have the courage to give it a shot. Something that could have dramatically improved your quality of life in many respects and you didn’t BELIEVE that you could do it, so you just kept on doing what you were doing, because that was the “safe” thing to do, or so you thought.

Some people believe that we, like cats, have seven lives. That when we die, we will come back and have another shot at “it”. Some people believe that once you begin your course in life, that one must stay on that course until the end, no matter how good or bad it is. Some people believe that they were meant to do something in life and that there is nothing else in “the script” but that. Some people believe that success is for other people and not for themselves.

What do you think the answer would be if you asked 10 people the questions I asked you in this article and if they are truly happy with their lives currently? Let me tell you. 7 out of 10 will tell you, if they are honest with themselves, that they are not truely happy or that they are not enjoying the succes they would like. And when you ask them what they would like to do instead, many will tell you that they do not know what they would rather do, but they can spend 15 minutes telling you what it is that they don’t like about their current situation. Sound familiar?

Let me tell you something folks: IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE THAT WAY! It really doesn’t!

Just like there are many people who are not happy with different aspects of their lives, there is a small percentage of people who LOVE what they do as an occupation, they are happy with many aspects of their lives. When they get up in the morning to go to work, they are excited and energized. When was the last time you felt that way about going to work? When was the last time you just felt good about the direction your life has taken?

The bottom line is, there are millions of people in this world who are fortunate enough to know what makes them happy and to be doing it every day. So, why can’t you be one of those people?

A long time ago, someone said that “The best way to predict your future is to create it.”

And Henry Ford once said that “Those who believe they can and those who believe they can’t are both right.”

And finally someone else once taught us the inevitable truth, that says that “If we continue to do the same things we’ve always done, we can only expect to get the same results.”

Finding out what it is that you really want out of your life instead of just going through the motions is such a good feeling and it is easier than you think! Getting to the point where you really KNOW that you are on the right path to achieving what you want and to living the life you want to live IS possible. Wouldn’t you like to experience that?
So the only question left now is:

“What are you going to do?”
